Acne medicine is something you are probably taking if you are a teen or you are doing a routine to clear up your acne. Yes, even adults have acne problems and use acne medications to clear theirs up. No matter what your dermatologists tells you, the sad fact is that some people just never outgrow their teen acne.

In adults it can be back acne thats the worst and for some adults it's still facial acne. Without a doubt, no matter your age or where your acne is, you want something that will get rid of it fast. That's generally where acne medicine comes in.

For people with pimples there is a ton of acne medication available that will zap zits. The medication that worked best with my zits was the antibiotic tetracycline. It is the one acne medicine that worked very well for me and those same antibiotics work for a lot of other people as well.

Possible Acne Medications

You will need to get a prescription for antibiotics, When you are at the doctor ask if they can or will give you an antibiotic for your acne. Most of the time they will but if they can't or won't ask for a referral to a dermatologist.

Another trick that worked during an acne flareup was the antibiotic skin cream for cuts and scrapes. I’d apply a little of it to each pimple and it would clear them up in a couple of days. That's some acne medicine you can get right over the counter.

Take a trip to the drug store and look at all the OTC medicine there is for acne. Read the labels for the ingredients and check carefully for any possible side affects.

You also have the other options for acne medicine like clean and clear and stridex pads, which happens to work well if oil clogged pores are the cause of your pimples, and many others. Of course there are also all the acne medicines you see advertised on TV and the net.

Try the anti bacterial creams and ointments as there is scientific proof that it's really the bacteria that cause of a lot of acne so finding something to kill the bacteria clears up the acne. It’s also why antibiotics work to get rid of pimples and zits.

Sometimes birth control pills are used as an anti acne medicine. While they work for a lot of girls and women they aren’t tested and approved for reducing or preventing zits and pimples. Birth control pills work as acne medicine because they do some hormonal control. Hormones are a known cause of acne breakouts.

Salicylic acid is found in OTC pads, lotions and creams. It works best on mild acne so just try it for a week or so and if you don’t see improvement try a different acne medicine.

A lot of OTC medication for acne have benzoyl peroxide as the main active ingredient. Be aware it can sting when applied and may also dry out your skin to a very severe degree on some people.

Sulfur and resorcinol are also treatments that will help you clear up your acne if it’s mild. There's also herbal acne medicine to clear up acne.

You may have to try a few different things as far as acne medicine to clear up your acne. It could take a little time but don’t give up, you can have clear skin with the right acne medicine.
